“I paint because I’m a woman” said Marlene Dumas, and so Wasser Kinder echoes this affirmation of femininity. The work is the fruit of a journey of self introspection, interrogation and immersion. The head represents the garden of childhood; a space of imagination, a space unique and private to each, an intimate space within. Here in the great head, the viewer can revisit memories and find refuge and shelter.
